I’ve been occasionally asked about offering OPML files for the podcast recommendations I make in this newsletter and the “best X podcasts” lists as well. What is an OPML file? It’s an easy way to import a list of podcasts into your favourite podcast player. From what I can tell, the following podcast players currently support this: Pocket Casts, Castro, Castbox, Player FM and a few other small ones.

In any case, now thanks to FTP fan Christopher Isene, OPML files of all the recommendations I’ve made are now available for you to download here. Many thanks to Christopher for maintaining this resource.

Before we get to this week’s recommendations, check out these new podcast discovery resources over at the FTP blog:

HISTORY

Robbery Inc.

In April 1974, a group of thieves tunneled beneath Roswell Street in Marietta, Georgia, and blasted their way into the Cobb Exchange Bank vault—only to be mocked for escaping with just $1,000. But as investigators dug deeper, they uncovered a far bigger mystery and the story of a career bank robber whose daring heists and prison escapes made him a legend.

SOCIETY & CULTURE

Tubby

Have you ever looked in the mirror and felt uncomfortable with your body—too chunky, bloated, tubby, or just not yourself? You’re not alone.

Iconoclastic filmmaker, podcaster, and noted curmudgeon Alan Zweig has built a career diving into the messy parts of life—obsession, insecurity, loneliness—and speaking the truths most of us avoid. But there’s one subject he’s wrestled with silently for years: his weight.

Tubby takes an unflinching, funny, and deeply human look at what it means to live in a body that feels too big—or never feels good enough. Each episode, Alan talks with friends, special guests, and occasional experts about weight struggles, body image issues, health, diet culture, self-esteem, and the reality of living fat. Sometimes sad, often hilarious, and always real, it’s a podcast for anyone who wants honest conversations about what it means to feel at home (or not) in your own skin.

TECHNOLOGY

Galaxy Brain

The internet has warped public life: Politicians behave like influencers, the economy resembles a casino, and people can no longer agree upon a consensus reality. New conspiracy theories, memes, and main characters seem to pop up every day. A constant war is on for your attention, and it’s easy to feel lost. Each week, Galaxy Brain and its host Charlie Warzel invite you into conversations to make sense of the online fire hose. Is AI destroying our ability to think? Do your grandparents have a screen-time problem? Galaxy Brain looks beyond the algorithm and anchors you to the real—however strange it may be.
